Sunday March 7

Sunday’s here are quite unlike our sundays at home. Since Friday is the worship day, Sunday is the start of a new week. Miss Cheri had school and Travis has his day where people come to the gate for help. He gives formula to babies who need it and people who need cataract surgery come for an evaluation and maybe a referral?? Not exactly sure. There is not much starvation in this country but there are many cleft palates/ lips. Also eye problems. As a church we help with cataract surgeries. Also the cleft lips etc. But I think trav sees mostly eye problems. He and merv also left to go check out a poor ladies situation to see if maybe there was some help they could give her.

Cheryl and I went for a little fabric to get my blouse and shirt to wear under a sari. Probably in the states we think of that type of dress as a religious thing and would maybe think we as Christians should stay away from it...  at least that was sorta my vague impression. Here it seems it’s more culture than religion. Yes there’s religion in it too, but a Hindu that converts to Christianity still wears a sari. And our missionary sisters like to respect the mode of dress and be somewhat like them. So we are going to a brothers place tomorrow and they wear saris when they go... so that’s the reason for getting one made for me. I Think I will keep my sari wrapped a bit tighter than some ladies I see around!!!!;)We left the fabric with a neighbor lady who will see it for me.

Naps in the sultry afternoon, with fans to help along.

Then we went to see the house where travis’ plan to move into soon. The landlord of this house has become quite difficult, raising the rent to ridiculous figures and insisting on additions and changes that just make it hard to stay here. This place is so perfect for a mission family set up. Has such a nice sized yard etc. But I guess it’s time to go on. The house they found to rent is quite amazing. Very large and open and roomy. Lots of tile, and most of the bedrooms have their own bathroom. There’s a much nicer bigger place for a school room. The place they use now works, but is quite small... this new place is on a much quieter “road”. It feels more like a wide path when you are on it, but I suppose their big van will get through on it quite fine. And I am sure the rickshaws and motorcycles will find a way around the van no matter how impossible it would seem. I think they want to move the end of April or so

More singing this evening...
